The Platform Tennis League welcomed five new players this week: Hal Theobald, Julie Jordan, Mark Williams, Andrew Berger & Randy Roeding. Also, back for Session #2 and playing for the first time this year were: Bob Spencer, Pete Robinson and Kevin Howe.

Congratulations to Tyler Fraser and partner Brandi Allen for winning the City Mixed Doubles. They defeated Michael Todd and Barb Kelley in the finals. Numerous PT Leaguers participated in the 24-team event that raised $2,500 for Boys Hope Girls Hope. PT Leaguers Scott Kiker, Sheri Frey, Andy Taylor, Todd Wise and Olivia Capannari all got their pictures in the paper for winning various reprieves. Chris Bowman and Kathy Schneider went 3-0 to push their season winning percentages above 50%. Schneider, now 106 (62.50%), went undefeated on her court with Anne Conway, Martha Capannari and Carlos Canelas. Bowman, now 5-2 (71.43%), won all of his sets with Doug Ucci, Sam Chasnoff and Marie Matrka. Participation: Participation was high despite steady light rain throughout the night. 77 participated on 17 courts. The league welcomed newcomers Marie Matrka and Tricia Headley. This was Matrka's first time playing paddle tennis. She is the current Cincinnati Met Tennis singles champion and has won the title 7 times. |
